Waalhaven-groupBarge and feeder terminal / entrepot-C

Activities

  • Barge-oriented container terminal
  • Transhipment and storage of both full and empty containers

Barge Center Waalhaven, is one of three terminals, managed by the Waalhaven Group, for shortsea and barge containers in Rotterdam. The other terminal locations are: Botlek (strategically situated between the city and the delta), Eemhaven and Waalhaven.

The terminal, with a capacity of 200,000 TEU can handle ships up to 1,000 / 1,200 TEU with a draft of approximately 9,5 meter.

Barge Center Waalhaven is a barge and shortsea terminal with all facilities to handle this cargo efficiently and with required service levels.

The terminal is a Customs area ‘Entrepot RTO-C'. This enables our clients to tranship their containers with minimal Customs procedures and documentation. Barge Center Waalhaven will take care of most of it by qualified personnel working at Waalhaven Douane Service B.V.

The terminal is equipped with reefer connections and can handle hazardous cargo as well, including IMO-1.

Barge Center Waalhaven is a cost-efficient terminal, able to handle large quantities of containers.

The terminal is part of the Intermodal Transport Concept, and offers services other terminals cannot, or only at higher costs. These services includes barging, storage of full and empty containers, Customs services and additional trucking.

Examples are our service labels:

  • Cool Barge
  • Transferium

Combined with the repair and cleaning facilities on our empty depot adjacent at Waalhaven, and with internal connections, a unique terminal concept is created in the Port of Rotterdam.
